In today’s “news that real estate dreams are made of,” Curbed Chicago reports that local hedge fund founder Ken Griffin has shattered the record for Chicago’s priciest condo. On top of the almost $59-million price tag, the space is undergoing nearly $9 million in rennovations. The space encompasses the top four floors of the Gold Coast’s No. 9 Walton building.
According to the report, the finished 25,000-square-foot property will include a private outdoor terrace, secure elevator access and a pool.
The second priciest Chicago home sale of 2017 fell far below the aforementioned penthouse: A $12-millon home on Dearborn Street, sold by Ann Lurie. On Crain’s list of Chicago’s priciest sales, a $3.87-million home lands at #50, which is nearly $100,000 higher than the 50th-ranked sale of 2016.
